Harry Winston Platinum Engagement Ring, circa 1960
Center: 10.49 carat Transitional-Cut VS1 Quality Cape Diamond with small open culet.
Side Diamonds: Pair of matching elongated VS Quality Pear Shape Diamonds @~1.00cttw.
This respective Diamond is one of the most scintillating and fiery stones to adorn a finger, that we estimate was faceted circa 1940's, and was subsequently purchased by Harry Winston and incorporated into this ring in 1960.
The color of this antique diamond is called 'Cape' in traditional diamond circles and is known for its warmth and slight yellowish tint, which can be observed through the underside (pavilion) of the diamond. The benefit of the open culet is that the diamond faces up white.
Provenance: Original Harry Winston Bill of Sale from March 1960, accompanied by HW Valuation Letter signed by Richard Winston, postmarked HW envelope dated April 1960, Updated HW Appraisal letters and postmarked HW Envelopes, business cards from march 1975, February 1980, and June 1992 respectively. We also have the original Winston box and updated GIA Certificate.
Purchased from the daughter of the original owner, a Central Park West socialite and former ballerina was happily married and lived until her late 80's. This is a ring with positive Karma.
