F.P.Journe
Few independent watchmakers have reshaped modern haute horlogerie as decisively as François-Paul Journe. A graduate of the École d’horlogerie de Paris, he refined his craft restoring antique timepieces in his uncle’s Paris workshop before launching his own collection in 1999, signed Invenit et Fecit, “invented and made,” certifying that every caliber is conceived and built in his Geneva manufacture. The debut Tourbillon Souverain was the first wristwatch to incorporate a remontoir d’égalité, delivering constant force to the escapement, while the Chronomètre à Résonance became the first wristwatch to harness resonance between two independent balances, a phenomenon Journe began researching in 1983. Movements are crafted in solid 18k rose gold, and dials come from his own in-house workshop. The Chronomètre Bleu, introduced in 2009 in notoriously difficult tantalum beneath a blue chrome dial, opened his world to a new generation of collectors. Explore our F.P. Journe collection below.
