Artist Biography:

American painter Sharyn Bradford, born in 1967 in New York City, earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at New York University in fine art and art education. Bradford is now a mid-career artist who works from her Southampton studio, creating and developing her color rich figurative expressionist paintings. She is known for incorporating her narrative and stream of consciousness writing into her paintings, adding a dimension of depth and intrigue to her work.

“My work is essentially a self-discovery study. It is a reflection of the transformational journey and metamorphosis into the woman I am today. I have always been fascinated by the human experience; how we see ourselves and how the world sees us. I continue to explore these perceptions in my art and writing.”

Bradford has been hard at work, creating solo shows like her most recent: “InWords” and “Beyond the Skin” with gallery representation in the Hamptons, Chicago, and South Florida. She joined forces with the Parrish Art Museum as an adjunct professor, teaching and facilitating their open studio for families. Drawing from her past experience teaching art at JHS 99, a charter school in East Harlem, as well as developing and directing the first not-for-profit curriculum that expanded art education into a gallery module for NYC public school students. Art education continues to be a mission near and dear to her heart. Bradford’s studio located in Southampton, New York is available for private showings and portrait commissions.

“My words have become an integral part of my work and process. They are essentially a narrative for each individual painting, like a note to self, adding a layer of depth and insight into my thoughts.  ”
SHARYN BRADFORD

“Art is a vision. Art is a voice. Art is a vibration.”

Artist Statement:

“I have been drawn to understanding our relevance as it relates to ourselves and the collective universal journey we travel to get to the center of our true self, our soul. ‘To be on the inside looking out or the outside looking in.’ I am always exploring how we see the world and how the world sees us. This transformational metamorphosis affects everything. Perceptions about who we are and how we see ourselves is relative to where we are within our reality and state of being. Needless to say, it is an evolutionary process as an artist. Ultimately, the idea is to be able to observe these perceptions and allow their truths to be revealed and shared through works of art.”
