What We Buy

Every GMT-Master Ever Made

Ref. 1675 — The Pepsi GMT-Master & Our Personal Favorite
1959–1980  ·  Cal. 1565 / 1575  ·  40mm  ·  Steel, Two-Tone, Gold  ·  Pepsi, Black, Root Beer
The definitive vintage GMT-Master. Twenty-one years in production, extraordinary variation across dial types (gilt, matte, gloss), crown guard styles (pointed to rounded), and bezel configurations. We are passionate 1675 Pepsi collectors — we know each sub-variant as a collector knows them, not as a generalist dealer. Gilt-dial pointed-crown-guard examples from the early 1960s command the strongest premiums. The rare "Pink Panther" fuchsia bezel and every Root Beer and gold configuration all purchased with full appreciation of what makes each example significant.
Ref. 6542 — The Original GMT-Master ("Pussy Galore")
1954–1959  ·  Cal. 1036 / 1065 / 1066  ·  Bakelite Pepsi bezel  ·  No crown guards  ·  Pan Am commission
The watch that started it all — built at Pan American Airways' request for pilots tracking two time zones. Immediately identifiable by its Bakelite (resin) Pepsi bezel and absent crown guards. Bakelite proved too fragile for a tool watch and most original bezels were replaced; an intact Bakelite 6542 is one of the rarest surviving original components in all of vintage Rolex collecting. The dial's radium lume was frequently serviced away. Acquired its "Pussy Galore" nickname from actress Honor Blackman, who wore one in the 1964 Bond film Goldfinger. All 6542 examples purchased; the gold 6542/8 is rarer still.
Ref. 16750 — Transitional GMT-Master
1981–1988  ·  Cal. 3075 (quickset date)  ·  Pepsi, Black, Root Beer  ·  Matte & gloss transitional dials
The 16750 bridged the vintage 1675 and the modern 16700: quickset date, doubled water resistance to 100m, and the transition from matte to glossy lacquer dials. Early glossy examples are known to develop hairline "spider" cracks — a peculiarity collectors prize. The ref. 16750 gained cultural visibility through Tom Selleck's on-screen appearances wearing one throughout the 1980s. The two-tone 16753 in Root Beer carries the Clint Eastwood association from its 1675/3 predecessor. All configurations purchased across steel (16750), gold (16758), and two-tone (16753).
Ref. 16700 — Final GMT-Master
1988–1999  ·  Cal. 3175  ·  Pepsi or Black  ·  Sapphire crystal  ·  Steel only  ·  Last original GMT-Master
The last reference in the original GMT-Master line, produced alongside the GMT-Master II until 1999. The 16700 brought sapphire crystal and Cal. 3175 to the platform while retaining the aluminum Pepsi or black bezel — in stainless steel only. Increasingly recognized as the most accessible vintage Pepsi GMT-Master and an excellent daily-wearer entry point to the vintage collection. Both bezel variants purchased.
Ref. 16760 — First GMT-Master II ("Fat Lady")
1982–1988  ·  Cal. 3085  ·  Coke / Black-Red only  ·  Independent GMT hand  ·  First GMT-II
The watch that defined the GMT-Master II: an independently adjustable 24-hour hand allowing the wearer to track a third time zone. The thicker case required by the Cal. 3085 earned it the "Fat Lady" nickname. Launched exclusively in the Coke (black/red) configuration; never offered in Pepsi. Also the first Rolex to use white gold for dial details. A grail for GMT-Master II specialists.
Ref. 16710 Series — GMT-Master II Aluminum Era
1989–2007  ·  Cal. 3185 / 3186  ·  Pepsi, Coke, Black  ·  Steel, Two-Tone (16713), Gold (16718)
The most varied GMT-Master II generation — Pepsi, Coke, and black in steel (16710); black and Root Beer in two-tone (16713); black and brown in yellow gold (16718). The 16710 represents the last steel GMT-Master II with an aluminum Pepsi bezel, making late-production examples increasingly valued as the aluminum era recedes. All configurations purchased, with meaningful premiums for full-service history and bracelet completeness.
Ref. 116710 / 116718 / 116719 Series — First Ceramic GMT-Master II
2005–2018  ·  Cal. 3186  ·  Black, Batman, White Gold Pepsi  ·  First Cerachrom on any Rolex
Milestone generation: the yellow gold 116718LN debuted the Cerachrom ceramic bezel across all of Rolex in 2005. The steel 116710LN followed in 2007. In 2013, the 116710BLNR "Batman" became the first Rolex with a two-tone ceramic bezel — achieved through a patented process previously thought impossible. In 2014, the white gold 116719BLRO brought the Pepsi back to the GMT-Master II in ceramic for the first time since the aluminum era. All references purchased.
Current Generation — Ref. 126710 Through 126720 Series
2018–present  ·  Cal. 3285 (70-hr reserve)  ·  Pepsi, Batman, Batgirl, Root Beer, Sprite, Bruce Wayne, Zombie
Cal. 3285 brought a 70-hour power reserve and the Chronergy escapement in 2018, alongside the long-awaited steel Pepsi on Jubilee (126710BLRO). Subsequent years delivered Batman/Batgirl, Everose Root Beer (126711CHNR), full-gold Root Beer (126715CHNR), the revolutionary left-handed Sprite (126720VTNR — Rolex's first-ever left-handed production watch), the stealthy Bruce Wayne black/grey (126710GRNR, 2024), and gold Zombie models (126713/126718GRNR, 2023). All references, metals, and bracelet configurations purchased.
Gem-Set & Precious Metal GMT-Master II
116769TBR  ·  116748SARU  ·  126755SARU  ·  Special order & ultra-rare configurations
The apex of the GMT-Master II. The white gold 116769TBR — approximately 30 carats of diamonds across case, bezel, dial, and bracelet, famously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo — is among the most valuable modern Rolex sport watches in existence. The SARU references (Saphirs et Rubis) reproduce the Pepsi blue/red bezel in hand-set sapphires and rubies on yellow gold (116748) and Everose gold (126755). All gem-set configurations purchased with full awareness of their exceptional collector value.

The Complete GMT-Master Nicknames Guide

The GMT-Master has more collector nicknames than any other Rolex family. Here is every one — what it means, which reference it applies to, and why collectors use it.

P
Pepsi
6542  ·  1675  ·  16750  ·  16700  ·  16710  ·  116719BLRO  ·  126710BLRO  ·  126719BLRO
The red/blue bi-color bezel — the most iconic GMT-Master configuration. Named for Pepsi Cola's brand colors (though the blue was likely inspired by Pan Am's livery). Applies to every era from the 1954 Bakelite 6542 through the current 126710BLRO in both aluminum and ceramic form.
C
Coke
16760  ·  16710 (black/red variant)
The black/red bi-color bezel. Introduced in 1982 on the first GMT-Master II (16760 "Fat Lady") and continued on the 16710. Named for Coca-Cola's brand colors. The 16760 was never offered in any other bezel — the Coke is its defining feature.
B
Batman
116710BLNR (Oyster)  ·  126710BLNR (Oyster)
Blue/black ceramic bezel on Oyster bracelet. The 116710BLNR (2013) was the first Rolex with a two-tone ceramic bezel — a feat previously considered technically impossible. Named for the Dark Knight's color scheme. Now applied primarily to the Oyster bracelet version.
Bg
Batgirl
126710BLNR (Jubilee bracelet)
Blue/black ceramic bezel on Jubilee bracelet. The same bezel as Batman but on the five-link Jubilee introduced in 2019 — dressier and more refined. Both Batman and Batgirl are now available on either bracelet, making box/papers the only reliable distinguisher between the two references.
R
Root Beer
1675/3  ·  16753  ·  16713  ·  126711CHNR  ·  126715CHNR
Brown-toned bezel — brown/gold on vintage aluminum variants, brown/black on modern Cerachrom. Spans from the 1970 two-tone 1675/3 to the current Everose Rolesor 126711CHNR and full gold 126715CHNR. The brown warmth against gold accents gives these watches an entirely different character from the Pepsi or Coke.
CE
Clint Eastwood
1675/3  ·  16753 (two-tone Root Beer)
A sub-name for the vintage two-tone Root Beer GMT. Clint Eastwood wore a ref. 16753 visibly in multiple films — cementing the association with the watch's rugged, cinematic character. A beloved nickname within the Root Beer family.
S
Sprite
126720VTNR (2022–present)
Green/black ceramic bezel with crown at 9 o'clock — Rolex's first-ever left-handed production watch. Named for the Sprite can's green/black color scheme. Available on both Oyster and Jubilee bracelets.
BW
Bruce Wayne
126710GRNR (2024)
Black/grey ceramic bezel on steel. Introduced in 2024 — Batman's civilian identity, a stealthier monochromatic interpretation of the blue/black bezel. The grey/black palette is sophisticated and understated in a way the more dramatic Batman colorway is not.
Z
Zombie
126713GRNR  ·  126718GRNR (2023)
Black/grey bezel on yellow gold or two-tone Rolesor. The Zombie nickname reflects the deadened, desaturated palette of grey/black against gold — a combination that struck collectors as unexpectedly eerie. Introduced on the 2023 yellow gold and two-tone models alongside the Jubilee bracelet.
FL
Fat Lady
16760 (1982–88; first GMT-Master II)
"Fat Lady" refers to the thicker-than-usual 16760 case required by the Cal. 3085 movement. Never offered in Pepsi — only in the Coke black/red configuration. A grail for GMT-Master II origin collectors.
PP
Pink Panther
1675 (fuchsia bezel variant; ~1966–72)
A 1675 with a vivid fuchsia/pink shade replacing the standard red on the Pepsi bezel — found on early Mk1 matte-dial examples. A subtle but visually striking variation that commands significant collector premiums when verified original. Named for the animated pink cat (and Peter Sellers films) of the same era.
Co
Concorde
1675/8 (all-yellow gold, black or brown bezel)
The all-gold 1675/8 with its "nipple dial" (round gold dot hour markers) — a watch of such conspicuous luxury that collectors associated it with the Concorde supersonic jet and its jet-set clientele. Rare, glamorous, and entirely of its era.
PG
Pussy Galore
6542 (the original GMT-Master)
The original 6542, worn by actress Honor Blackman in the 1964 Bond film Goldfinger — in which she played the character Pussy Galore. The most cinematic origin story of any Rolex nickname, and one of the earliest collector monikers in the hobby.

Value & Collectibility

Why the GMT-Master Holds Its Value

The Rolex GMT-Master occupies a singular position: a purpose-built professional tool created for Pan American Airways pilots that became a global symbol of adventure, competence, and glamour. The Pepsi bezel is the single most recognized bi-color watch design in history, and its value is reinforced across every generation of the collection. Vintage ref. 1675 examples — particularly gilt-dial pointed-crown-guard specimens from the early 1960s — command the strongest premiums, with dial originality, bezel authenticity, and crown guard configuration all material to value. The "Pink Panther" fuchsia bezel variant and the all-blue bezel examples are among the most dramatically priced vintage GMT configurations; the original 6542 with intact Bakelite bezel is a grail-level collector piece.

On the modern side, the steel Pepsi 126710BLRO — absent from the GMT-Master II in steel since the aluminum 16710 — was among the most anticipated Rolex releases in a generation and remains one of the most consistently traded sports watches globally. The left-handed Sprite (126720VTNR) became one of the most discussed Rolex introductions of recent years for its unprecedented left-handed construction. Batman and Batgirl are reliably traded; the Zombie and Bruce Wayne have established strong collector followings. Gem-set references — the sapphire-and-ruby bezel SARU models and the all-diamond 116769TBR — represent the apex of modern GMT-Master II value, with the 116769TBR among the most expensive modern Rolex sport watches in existence.

The Glenn Bradford Difference

Nearly Four Decades & Personal Pepsi Collectors

Glenn Bradford Fine Jewelry has been a trusted name in fine jewelry and watches for nearly 40 years, with deep roots in both the Hamptons and New York. Across that time we have built expertise across the full spectrum of fine watchmaking — Rolex, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, A. Lange & Söhne, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and beyond — bringing the perspective of a serious collector rather than a generalist dealer to every evaluation.

The GMT-Master is not simply a watch we trade — it is a collection we personally curate. The ref. 1675 Pepsi is our favorite reference in all of watchmaking. We know its variations the way a dedicated collector knows them: the difference between a pointed-crown-guard gilt dial and a Mk1 matte Long-E example, why the Pink Panther fuchsia bezel commands the premium it does, and what "original Bakelite bezel" genuinely means for a 6542. We understand the Fat Lady's historical significance, the collector appeal of an early gloss spider-dial 16750, and how documentation completeness affects different eras in entirely different ways. When you bring us a GMT-Master — any reference, any condition — you are speaking with buyers who are enthusiasts first.

We also know how to read patina — and we value it properly. A vintage GMT-Master that has spent decades on a wrist in the Hamptons is a different object than one that sat in a drawer. Years of exposure to natural sunlight gradually shifts the colors of aluminum bezel inserts — a Pepsi red fades toward salmon, the blue deepens or cools — producing a unique, unrepeatable character that no replacement bezel can recreate. Dials oxidize and develop warmth. Coastal environments add another layer entirely: salt air and ocean exposure accelerate the aging of metals and lacquers in ways that leave each watch genuinely one-of-a-kind. These are not flaws. Among serious collectors, original tropical dials, faded "ghost" bezels, and naturally aged lume plots are among the most desirable qualities a vintage GMT-Master can have — and we price them that way.

How It Works

A Simple, Discreet Process

01
Submit Your Watch

Use the form above or contact us directly. For vintage references — especially 6542 Bakelite or early gilt-dial 1675 Pepsis — clear photos of the dial, bezel, crown guards, caseback, and movement serial are very helpful.

02
Receive Our Assessment

We respond within 24 hours with a preliminary offer. For significant variants — Pink Panther, early gilt-dial 1675, or Bakelite 6542 — we may request additional photographs before confirming a figure.

03
Agree on Terms

Once we examine the watch in person or receive it via fully insured shipping, we confirm our final offer. No obligation to proceed at any stage.

04
Receive Payment

Payment is made promptly following final agreement and authentication. Wire transfer, check, or other arrangements available to suit your preference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Yes — for vintage GMT-Masters the bezel insert condition is often the single most consequential factor outside of dial originality. A genuine original aluminum Pepsi insert on a ref. 1675 with strong color, no fading, and intact markings can meaningfully increase the offer. Conversely, a replaced or re-lacquered bezel — even on an otherwise excellent watch — will reduce the offer. For the 6542, an original intact Bakelite bezel adds dramatic value and is one of the rarest surviving original components in vintage Rolex collecting. We assess bezels carefully and always explain transparently how condition affects the evaluation. For modern ceramic examples, the bezel is effectively indestructible and condition is far less variable.
Yes. We work with clients throughout the United States and internationally. Submit your piece through the form above with clear photographs of the case, dial, caseback, and any paperwork. We will provide a preliminary assessment promptly and can arrange fully insured shipping or a private appointment at our Southampton flagship boutique — whatever is most convenient for you.
