One of our three Newman Dial Daytonas, Reference 6262, circa 1970, condition excellent, complete with original box, guarantee and booklet.
History
First introduced in 1963, the Rolex Cosmograph was created for the racing enthusiast and was later named "Cosmograph Daytona" or simply the "Daytona" after the famed racing event.
The most famous and coveted timepiece in the world is the Newman Dial Daytona. Fewer than 3500 with push buttons have ever been created by Rolex and we believe there to be fewer than 500 original authentic Newman Dial Daytonas still in existence. In 2017, Paul Newman's personal Daytonas sold for $17.75 million at auction at Phillips.

History
The Rolex Day Date’s legacy began in 1956. The first references produced featured the now-iconic President bracelet, a fluted bezel, and a 36mm Oyster case. These references were the first watches in the world to display both a date of the month and the day of the week, spelled out in full through windows in the dial. As a member of the Oyster Perpetual series, Day Dates also sported Rolex’s patented waterproof Oyster case and self-winding Perpetual movement.
The first generation set the wheels in motion. It didn’t take long for the series to evolve to include a broader selection of dial colors, metal options, bezels, bracelet types, and movements.
In the 1970's Rolex produced a very limited Day Dates with hand mixed colored enamels with a unique lacquer finish. These are known as "Stella Dials." There are four stories:
My favorite is that these dials were named after Frank Stella the prominent artist who worked with brightly hued enamels throughout the '70's. Another is that the dial manufacturer was named "Stella". the third is that "Stella" is a type of varnish and finally in Latin "Stella" means Star or Star Like. Choose your favorite.
Manufactured primarily for the Middle Eastern Market, these brightly hued dials were not popular and Rolex ended up destroying most of these remaining dials, making them extremely rare highly collectible.

Own a piece of history... Rolexes legacy is as the leader of iconic technical tool watches having created many patented innovations including the screw down crown, anti-magnetic casing, helium release valve, the ratchet bezel...
The Rolex Pepsi GMT is one of the most recognizable watches on the planet. Launched in 1954, it was designed for pilots in the age of transcontinental flights. The characteristic blue and red bezel was said to be inspired by the colors of Pan American Airways, who commissioned the watch from Rolex. In 1960, Rolex launched their second series of the GMT-Master, a reference that would run until approximately 1980, the reference 1675. This reference is the most collectible.

“This Rolex watch spent 20 minutes on the Pacific ocean floor, 35,797 feet down, and came up ticking!” raves a vintage 1961 ad for Rolex’s Submariner series. The then-director at Rolex, Rene P. Jeanneret, was an enthusiastic diver, urging the brand to create a “sport” watch that could withstand the elements, yet look elegant enough for formal occasions.

Bottom Mint Condition 36mm Datejust 18kt Gold and Stainless Steel Datejust with factory custom Peridot Green Dial on Jubilee Bracelet, with fluted bezel. Comes with original Birth Dial and Birth Box. Circa 1969.
History
First introduced in 1945 as a means to commemorate the company's 40th anniversary, the Datejust is one of Rolex's oldest collections of watches that still remain in production today. The original Datejust was a 36mm case size. While a date display has become completely standard on most contemporary timepieces, the Rolex Datejust was the world's very first self-winding wristwatch to feature a date window that would automatically change over at midnight. Although this functionality may now seem somewhat commonplace, it was the Datejust that set the standard for how a date complication on a wristwatch should function.
Unlike many of Rolex's other iconic watch lines, the Datejust was not specifically designed or intended for one particular sport, environment, or lifestyle activity. While the Submariner was built for SCUBA divers, and the Daytona for race car drivers, the Datejust is simply a classic and reliable wristwatch, with a timeless and versatile aesthetic, that was designed to be worn everyday, throughout a wide variety of activities.

Designed by Gerald Genta...After receiving accolades for his designing what became the first luxury sports watch for Audemars Piguet-The Royal Oak, Genta became the most sought after watch designer.
Legend has it, that while sitting at a restaurant bar having dinner, during the 1974 Basel Watch Fair, in walked the Stern family (the owners of Patek), who sat down to dinner. Genta grabbed a bar napkin and pen and sketched what was to become the most iconic luxury sports watch of all time-The Patek Philippe Nautilus.
The unusual case was inspired by a ship's porthole, with a rounded octagonal bezel.

The iconic Bulgari Tubogas, 19mm Diameter case
Size small, Black Dial, Circa 1990's, from original owner. Condition Mint
History
The so-called tubogas (or gas-pipe) technique was developed during the second half of the nineteenth century and used by Bulgari on the first Serpenti watch creations of the 1940s and 1950s. The term “tubogas” was inspired by the distinctive shape of the gas carrier pipes in use from the 1920s onwards.
The springy bands that define the Tubogas style are created by wrapping profiled strips of gold (and sometimes steel) around a steel form so that the edges interlock in a continuous, unsoldered curve, with the result being that the design is both incredibly flexible and strong.
